Orlando Marzo, from Melbourne’s Lume restaurant, has been named the world’s best bartender by the biggest bartending competition on the planet, Diageo World Class Global Bartender of the Year 2018. Marzo beat over 10,000 bartenders from every corner of the globe in a competition that spanned five continents, six months, hundreds of challenges and countless cocktails. It culminated in a four-day finale where 56 of the best bartenders in the business battled it out in the global cultural hot spot of Berlin. Marzo will travel the world as a Diageo representative, making drinks in “exotic and far-flung” locations and judging competitions. He is the tenth member of the World Class Hall of Fame.
