Fine Terroir Selections added new Spanish wines from Mendieta Osaba. A production, family-owned winery located in Lanciego, Rioja Alavesa – which skirts the Sierra Cantabria Mountain range – the team at Mendieta Osaba has been growing grapes on its family’s historic vineyards for generations, producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines that are a true reflection of the soil. The wines range from Tempranillo blends and a single-estate vineyard monovarietal gem to a single-estate Malvasia/Viura. Two new wines from the producer are now available in Connecticut. Mendi is a 13.5% ABV 100% Tempranillo vegan certified wine from Spain’s Rioja Alavesa. With a brilliant cherry red color and violet tones, the wine is packed with perfume on the nose, for a very fresh, youthful rioja with intense aromas of blackberries and dashes of spices. Osaba Mendi – also a 100% Tempranillo vegan certified wine and 13.5% ABV from Spain’s Rioja Alavesa – offers a deep cherry color with violet tones, ripe flavors of blackberries followed by spicy organic oak and vanilla with cocoa nuances, and is balanced with a long and juicy finish.
