California’s O’Neill Vintners & Distillers announced its B Corp Certification on June 22, which distinguishes companies that meet “high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.” The certification comes less than a year after O’Neill earned Wine Institute’s Green Medal Leader Award in 2021. O’Neill now joins more than 5,000 companies across 80 countries and 155 industries in earning B Corp status. The announcement signifies a “major milestone” for O’Neill’s efforts in sustainability, transparency and social stewardship, which include The O’Neill Sustainable Grower Certification Program, over 33,000 square feet of solar panels, the BioFiltro® BIDA wastewater program and the Charles Woodson & O’Neill Family Wine scholarships. O’Neill Vintners & Distillers received a score of 98.3/200 on the B Impact Assessment.
