Renowned Bordeaux Winemaker André Lurton Passes Away

The Lurton family, relatives and all of the teams at Vignobles André Lurton announced the passing of Mr. André Lurton on May 16, 2019. The renowned Bordeaux winemaker that devoted his life to winemaking passed away in his Château Bonnet in Grézillac, in the heart of the estate where he was born in 1924. A visionary and entrepreneur, André Lurton was the man behind the fine dry white wines of the Entre-deux-Mers region, founder of the Pessac-Léognan appellation and mayor of the commune of Grézillac for more than forty years. As president of Vignobles André Lurton, he was “committed to sharing his expertise and passion for his estates, wines and great Bordeaux terroirs with his employees, friends and loyal customers,” said Pascal Le Faucheur, General Director of Vignobles André Lurton, in a statement released upon news of Lurton’s passing.
