The RI Hospitality Association (RIHA) announced that its traditional Stars of the Industry awards event has transformed into the ANCHORS. The newly revamped awards will honor “exceptional champions of hospitality across Rhode Island, inclusive of the entire industry, recognizing dedication, excellence and professionalism.”
“The ANCHORS recognize the breadth and depth of the talent who power Rhode Island’s vibrant hospitality industry,” said Farouk Rajab, RIHA President/CEO. “Our goal is to spotlight the remarkable contributions made industry wide, inspiring continued excellence and fostering an inclusive culture.”
The ANCHORS will feature just one winner per category, including Hotel of the Year, Chef of the Year, and People’s Choice, to name a few. In a new twist, select awards will be open to public voting, engaging the broader community in celebrating those who elevate Rhode Island’s hospitality industry. Award winners will be announced live at a ceremony on Jan. 15, 2025, at Bally’s Lincoln, in an Academy Awards-style experience.
Nominations are now open online through Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. (midnight). For more information, please visit the ANCHORS Awards nomination page or contact victoria@rihospitality.org.Employers are encouraged to submit nominations for specific awards, while public input is invited through online voting for other categories, including the People’s Choice Award. New for 2024, RIHA has streamlined the awards, reducing categories to emphasize high standards and exceptional contributions. In keeping with the spirit of inclusivity, nominees and winners are no longer required to hold RIHA membership.
A kick-off celebration is planned at Matunuck Oyster Bar in Wakefield for Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, where finalists will be revealed, and public voting will open on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024. Award categories span a diverse array of roles, from Emerging Leader of the Year to Tourism Employee of the Year.
