Rumford-based wine brand Anchor & Hope was featured at a wine dinner at the Rooftop at the Providence G in Providence on May 11. Guests enjoyed a different Anchor & Hope wine paired with each of the three courses, including Anchor & Hope 2019 Grüner Veltliner, 2018 Mendo Red Blend and 2019 Pinot Rosé. Anchor & Hope wines are made by Providence-based husband-and-wife-team James Davids, a winemaker who hails from California, and Marissa Stashenko, originally from Massachusetts, who collaborate with family-owned grape growers in Germany, California and Oregon to create single-vineyard, sustainably farmed wines in environmentally friendly packaging. The wines are shipped to Rumford soon after harvest, where they are aged and packaged into five-gallon kegs, 250-ml cans, 375-ml bottles and 750-ml bottles. Available Anchor & Hope selections include 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, 2019 Dry Riesling, 2019 Riesling Feinherb, 2019 Chardonnay, 2018 Pinot Gris, 2019 Rosé, 2018 Pinot Noir – Oregon, 2018 Mendo Red and 2018 Pinot Noir – Rheinhessen.
