Sage Cellars hosted a tenth-anniversary screening of the film “Bottle Shock” at the Jane Pickens Theater in Newport on September 12. Prior to the screening, guests enjoyed tastes of La Sirena Moscato Azul and La Sirena’s red wine blend, Pirate TreasuRed. Special guests included La Sirena Winery’s Remi Barrett, granddaughter of Jim Barrett, who became renowned after Napa-based Chateau Montelena’s winning feat at a 1976 blind tasting in Paris rocked the international winemaking community, inspiring the subject of the 2008 film. Among guests was George Taber, former TIME magazine reporter and author of the book “Judgment of Paris,” chronicling the personalities and path of a little-known California wine community, and a chardonnay’s entry and first-ever win in an international wine competition.
