Segura Viudas Cava was among the many sponsors of Siren Songs: For the Love of the Sound hosted at Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport on July 8. The event was a combination of a day of activism with park and marsh cleanups and an evening of entertainment to benefit Save the Sound presented by Nicole Zuraitis, Grammy-nominated vocalist, pianist and songwriter, with performances from Sirintip, Rosemary Minkler and Fernanda Franco, plus the Telle DJ Dance Party and special guests. Silent auction items helped raise funds, including special gift bags featuring Segura Viudas. The event raised nearly $5,000 and picked up 600 pounds of trash with the earlier cleanups. Segura Viudas began producing its award-winning Spanish sparkling wines in 1959, crafting high-quality, artisan Cavas using viticultural practices that preserve biodiversity in its historic vineyard in Penedès DO. Save the Sound leads environmental action and preservation across the Long Island Sound region from its offices in Connecticut and New York. “The mission at Segura Viudas to #RespectTheRoots aligns nicely with the mission of Save the Sound to protect our lakes, rivers and, of course, the Long Island Sound,” said Douglas MacLeod, Connecticut State Manager, DipWSET, Freixenet Mionetto USA. The wines are distributed throughout Connecticut via Slocum & Sons. Additional event sponsors included Votto Vines, Regan Fad and Robert Boland, Tommy Leonardo, Brian Hewitt and New England Brewing Co.
