
Slocum & Sons welcomed new wine imports. First is Alphonse Mellot Sancerre wines, including Gen XIX Wine19 Generations (19 Generations) of Sancerre, France, with all farming organic and certified biodynamic since 1996. In 2013, the historic estate celebrated its 500th anniversary and 19 successive generations of winegrowers, with Alphonse Mellot Jr. now at the helm. Two new wines from Julie Batard and La Closerie du Loup, Prélude and Racines, are the first two cuvées, red wines from the heart of Saint-Lanne. Clos Henri is home to organic Marlborough, New Zealand, wines, made in the foothills of the Wairau Valley. Since its establishment in 2000, the estate is headed by members of the famous winegrowing family of Henri Bourgeois from Sancerre. Drawing on more than 200 years of winegrowing expertise from the family, Clos Henri crafts organic wines that are textural and elegant. Champagne Louis Nicaise is located in the heart of the premier cru village Hautvillers, where the Nicaise family has been growing grapes and producing Champagnes for four generations. And finally, Maison Jeeper was founded in 1949 by Armand Gourtobe, a winemaker whose legs were injured while rescuing American soldiers during WWII in France. To honor him, the United States Army gifted Gourtobe a Willys Jeep, which he used to tour his vineyard, thus earning him the nickname “Jeeper Man” by the local villagers and his namesake wines.
- Alphonse Mellot wines include a series of Sancerre from the famed French region: Sancerre Blanc La Moussière 2022, La Demoiselle 2021, Les Romains 2021, Satellite 2022 and Generation XIX 2018.
- Clos Henri creates its organic Marlborough, New Zealand, wines in the Wairau Valley. Wines include Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Estate Pinot Noir 2021, Sauvignon Blanc Otira 2022 and Pinot Noir Waimaunga 2020.
- Two new red wines from Julie Batard’s La Closerie du Loup, Prélude and Racines.
- Champagne Louis Nicaise and Maison Jeeper produce a range of bubblies new to Connecticut.
