Stomping Horse wines were showcased at Donahue’s Madison Beach Grille on Jan. 17 during the Wine & Food Winter Festival with a visit from the brand’s owners. During the festival, which took place at Donahue’s Jan. 13-29, premium wines were highlighted and paired with different menu items. Connecticut-based Stomping Horse owners Dawn Page, Steven Shewbrooks and Byron Brewer were on-site to give guests a background on their wines, which were paired with different dishes from Donahue’s. The horse lovers, wine lovers and philanthropists create fine wines, whose horse-themed, play-on-word varietal offerings are bottled directly at vineyards in Washington State’s Columbia Valley. During the evening, guests tasted Stomping Horse Chardonneigh Washington Columbia Valley 2021, 100% Chardonnay, and Stomping Horse Thoroughblend 2020, 65% Mourvèdre, 27% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Viognier, from Washington’s Yakima and Columbia valleys. Page’s rescued thoroughbred horse, Trouper, serves as the bottles’ label and cork model. The wine brand is distributed in Connecticut via Votto Vines.
