Sunset Meadow Vineyards Named Among Best Wineries in America

By October 30, 2017Connecticut, Top News

Sunset Meadow Vineyards in Goshen was named as one of the “Best 101 Wineries in America” by culinary publication, The Daily Meal. The only Connecticut winery to make the list, Sunset Meadow Vineyards was hailed as the “champion of estate-grown wines” by the more than 60 wine industry experts participating in compiling the 2017 list. Owned by George and Judy Motel, it is among New England’s largest producing vineyards. “We are thrilled to be recognized alongside such a list of fine wineries. This recognition is a tribute to the pride and dedication of our employees. It also validates our commitment to producing quality, estate wines in a region where the requirements do not encourage the standards we have established for ourselves,” said George Motel. The vineyard consists of 50 acres with 33 planted. Varietals include Cayuga White, Chardonnay, Riesling, Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Chardonel, Lemberger, Chamborcin, Frontenac, Landot, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, St. Croix, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
