Opened by two-time James Beard semifinalist and Food Network competitor Chef Brian Lewis, The Cottage’s Westport location opened to critical acclaim in 2015 and is accompanied by a Greenwich post. The restaurant offers New American cuisine delivered with casual simplicity and coastal charm in a cozy and intimate setting. Deeply rooted in seasonality and local ingredients, the team focuses on sourcing exceptional ingredients and creating memorable experiences. Its beverage program includes plenty of curated beer, wine and nonalcoholic options. Crafted cocktails mirror the approach to seasonal creativity and innovative, inspired tastes. The month’s showcased cocktail, Naughty or Nice, moves through the winter season as a delicious example.

Bartender: Roger Allen

Cocktail: Naughty or Nice

Ingredients:
» 1.5 oz. Fords Gin
» .5 oz. dry curaçao
» .5 oz. allspice dram
» 1 oz. cranberry sauce/syrup
» .5 oz lemon juice
» Sprig of rosemary
» Vanilla foam
» Garnish: rosemary sprig and cranberry

Method: Add gin, curaçao, allspice dram, cranberry syrup, lemon juice and a sprig of rosemary to a shaker over ice. Shake and strain the mixture into a Nick and Nora glass. Top with vanilla foam and garnish with rosemary sprig and cranberry. To make vanilla foam, see additional recipe.

“The cocktail Naughty or Nice was designed to pay homage to the seasonal flavors of Thanksgiving. It has a modern take on one of the greatest holiday classics: cranberry sauce,” said Bartender Roger Allen. “The combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice dram creates a well-balanced cocktail that is fit for any dinner table. Plus, it has a note of that holiday indulgence with the vanilla foam to tie it all together.”

*To make Vanilla Foam: 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, 3 oz. of amaretto, 4 oz. heavy cream, 6 oz. whole milk, 4 oz. simple syrup (50% water, 50% sugar) and 2 vanilla beans. Add all ingredients to a whipped cream canister and chill for 30 minutes before topping drink.
