Twin River Casino announced will host the 2014 Iron Tender Bar War Challenge at their Lighthouse Bar. Twin River Casino, Gruppo Campari, Bacardi USA, Heineken USA, Heaven Hill Distilleries, Lucos Bols, Deep Eddy Hade Made Spirits, and USBG Rhode Island will sponsor the event.

This year’s challenge, which is slated to begin on Monday, April 7, will include five weeks (excluding May 12) of competition among some of the top bartenders across Rhode Island, Connecticut and Boston, including the Johnson & Wales University Beverage department.  Each week, a different spirit is randomly selected as the main ingredient for the Bar War Challenge. Contestants will have a specific amount of time to produce the cocktails and present them to the judges. The contestants are scored on several different categories such as: name, balance, simplicity, presentation, aroma, taste, originality, delivery and overall impression of cocktail.

The first and second place winners each week, as well as the team with the biggest fan base, will advance to the finals after five weeks, occurring on May 19 at the Lighthouse Bar.  In total, over $6,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.
