Two Roads Brewing Honors Stratford’s Igor Sikorsky

By February 27, 2015Connecticut, Top News, New Products

Two Roads Brewing Company celebrated Stratford’s aviation past on January 24, 2015 by launching a limited-edition beer in honor of aviator Igor Sikorsky, founder of Sikorsky Aircrafts, on the brewery’s third Igor Day. The annual celebration highlights Stratford’s role in aviation history. Igor Sikorsky’s sons, Igor Jr. and Nikolai, were on hand to autograph bottles and talk with customers. Brewmaster Phil Markowski also signed bottles. Two Roads representatives said when they first opened the brewery they knew they wanted to honor Sikorsky. The commemorative brew, named “Igor’s Dream,” is a Russian Imperial Stout – a nod to Sikorsky’s Russian heritage, then aged in rye whiskey barrels in three versions for a series called “The Road Less Traveled.” The bottles are sold in limited quantity at the brewery with ten percent of the sales to go the Connecticut Air & Space Center, also based in Stratford.
