USBG Connecticut Bartending Competition Yields June Winners

The United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) New Haven and Hartford chapters, along with Eder Bros., Inc., and Allan S. Goodman, continued the 2019 USBG Civil War Bartending Competition series with two events in June. New Haven’s Elm City Social set the stage for USBG New Haven competitors on June 17, using Old Forester, America’s First Bottled Bourbon®, as a base spirit along with beer from Relic Brewing Co. Roger Gross of Sherkaan Indian Street Food won first place, Dorian Dorsey of Mezón Tapas Bar & Restaurant won second place and Glenn “Coco” Gamarra of Manjares Tapas Bar won third place. The USBG Hartford chapter hosted its round-three event, featuring the Netherland’s Rutte Spirits gin and genevers at Zohara Mediterranean Kitchen in West Hartford on June 24. The first-place winner was Abraham Rojas of Savoy Pizzeria & Craft Bar, second-place winner was James Maleck of Savoy Pizzeria & Craft Bar and Jenna Geysen of Zohara Mediterranean Kitchen came in at third place.
