The United States Bartenders Guild (USBG) New Haven Chapter treated its members to a day of learning for the USBG’s National Education Week at Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford on October 15. Dimitrios Zahariadis, USBG New Haven Chapter President and Brand Ambassador for Litchfield Distillery, created cocktails using the Litchfield Distillery line prior to the formal presentations. The informative sessions kicked off with a talk by Two Roads Brewing Company Area Sales Manager and Cicerone-certified John Kubicsko on draught beer, keg and tap line troubleshooting and beer service-related issues. Then representatives from Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services Co. presented tips for financial planning and buying insurance relevant for those in the hospitality industry. Roger Gross of Ordinary and Elm City Social presented Green Dot Bystander Sexual Harassment Intervention Training, which seeks to increase proactive preventative behavior by giving community members basic education, skill practice and reactive interventions to high-risk situations. The afternoon concluded with a tasting and talk on the newly available Bolivian spirit, Rujero Singani, presented by Craig Ventrice, USBG New Haven Chapter Treasurer and Spirits Portfolio Manager at Highland Imports and Tealye Long, Business Development Manager, Chufly Imports.
