Brescome Barton, in collaboration with West Hartford’s Shish Kebab House of Afghanistan, hosted a cocktail competition showcasing Cynar at The Bunker, Shish Kebab House’s basement venue, on Nov. 13. Seven local bartenders squared off to create their best cocktails featuring Cynar for a panel of judges: Jillian Carey, Account Development Manager, Brescome Barton; Ellie Novick, Manager, The Bunker; and Dustin Amore, Little River Restoratives. The winner was Jessica “JT” Torres, Little River Restoratives. Cynar is an Italian amaro made with artichokes and a unique blend of 13 herbs and spices, resulting in a smooth, slightly sweet and bitter taste. With an ABV of just 16%, Cynar is a described as a perfect after-dinner drink on its own and is a great addition to cocktails. As part of the Campari Group portfolio, Cynar is among its imported aperitifs.
