Wine Wizards Offers Brooklyn-Based Craft Spirits to State

By June 3, 2021Rhode Island, Top News

Wine Wizards celebrated its partnership in bringing craft spirits brands Greenhook Ginsmiths and St. Agrestis Spirits, both of Brooklyn, New York, to Rhode Island. Founded in 2010 by brothers Steven and Philip DeAngelo with a mission to bring purity, flavor and creativity to the American gin market, the new distillery in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn offers American Dry Gin, Beach Plum Gin Liqueur and Old Tom Gin, as well as Gin & Tonic in 200-ml cans. Unique to its process, the team uses a custom-made 300-liter copper pot still specifically engineered to work under a vacuum, which removes air pressure from the still. This technique allows the gin to be distilled at temperatures dramatically lower than ordinary stills—preventing the delicate aromas of the botanicals from becoming stewed by excessive heat. In partnership with Steven DeAngelo, brothers Louie and Matt Catizone teamed up with Greenhook Ginsmiths to create the St. Agrestis line of Italian aperitivos and digestifs. St. Agrestis celebrates the traditions of Italian spirits using old-world methods and real herbs, spices and citrus. Available in eye-catching packaging are St. Agrestis Amaro and St. Agrestis Inferno Bitter and bottled St. Agrestis Negroni and St. Agrestis Spritz in 187-ml cans.
