Worldwide Wines welcomed Far Mountain wines from Sonoma Valley, California. Over the last three decades, Mai Errazuriz and husband Rodrigo Soto have worked for a number of leading wineries in North and South America. The duo founded the winery based on “the belief that some of the greatest potential for wine in California, and anywhere in the world, exists in remote pockets in the mountains of the Sonoma Valley.” New to Connecticut are Far Mountain Fission Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, with the name referencing the textural and mineral characteristics that the unique volcanic soil brings to wine from the Moon Mountain AVA, and Far Mountain Myrna Chardonnay 2019, an expression of Bald Mountain’s delicate floral notes combined with salty, lime and green fruit-inflected notes from the winery’s Thornton Vineyard.
- Far Mountain Fission Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a wine of texture, with the intensity and concentration associated with old vines. Its powerful but refined tannins are cloaked by the subtlety of the fruit, gently building structure.
- Far Mountain Myrna Chardonnay 2019 offers a “minerally” Chardonnay, which grows into a more defined and powerful structure, after green fruit offers layers of spice persisting through the finish.
