Sage Cellars hosted local wine tasting events with Max Gleason, General Manager and Partner of Refugio Ranch in Los Olivos, California. The Santa Barbara County wines come from the Gleason family, who purchased the hundred-year-old land used for cattle ranching, keeping its name for its wines. Under the supervision of local viticultural legends Jeff Newton and Ruben Solorzano, 26 acres of Refugio Ranch were planted to vineyards in 2006. Winemaker Ryan Deovlet joined the team in 2008 for its first vintage, and has continued to craft every vintage since. Max Gleason is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and the family-run business also features sister Callie Gleason as its Sales Director.
