More than 250 trade guests, family members and friends of the late Al Zannella, who served as Executive Vice President of Mancini Beverage, gathered for an online memorial and toast recognizing his contributions to the Rhode Island beverage and hospitality industry and his far-reaching work through the Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) as a longtime board member. The gathering benefited the RI Hospitality Employee Relief Fund founded in his honor after he passed away in March 2020. The fund awards aid to RIHA member restaurant, hotel and tourism employees who have been laid off and are facing financial hardship due to COVID-19 in the form of $250 grants. RIHA’s Dale Venturini and Heather Singleton; Frank Martucci, Director of Beverage & Nightlife for Twin River Management Group and United States Bartenders’ Guild Charity Foundation Board President; Greg Zannella, Al’s son and a member of Mancini Beverage management team; and Chris Woods, Vice President of Sales, worked together to collect photos and arrange the online fundraiser and session. Members of the Zannella and Mancini families shared fond memories and stories, both professional and personal, while guests shared comments via chat. Zannella is remembered as a dedicated member of the hospitality community.
