Retailer, Restaurateur Team Celebrate Old Forester Release

By March 24, 2022Rhode Island, Top News

Allen’s Wine & Spirits in Portsmouth welcomed its Straight Outta the Barrel series of single-barrel bourbon offerings in partnership with the Diego’s Restaurant Group. The first selection is a rare 5-Year-Old, 130 proof bourbon from Old Forester, sold at Allen’s and labeled for its private barrel release, made available for a limited time exclusively at Allen’s and at Diego’s Newport and Wharf Southern Kitchen in Newport, Diego’s Barrio Cantina in Middletown and Diego’s Eastside in Providence. Old Forester’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey, produced in Lawrenceburg by the Brown–Forman Corporation, has been on the market continuously for longer than any other bourbon and was the first bourbon sold in sealed bottles, beginning in 1870. In 1920, Old Forester was one of only a handful of companies given a permit to sell and manufacture whiskey during Prohibition and the only one still in the whiskey business today. The second installment in the Straight Outta the Barrel series from the Allen’s and Diego’s teams was set to be released in late March.
