Avon Tasting Highlights Spanish Wines

By March 24, 2022Connecticut, Top News

Avon Super Cellar, in coordination with Monsieur Touton Selection, hosted a tasting of fine Spanish wines on Feb. 9. Featured wines included Bodegas Protos Roble, a structured, fruity red wine with flavors of sweet, balanced oak and soft tannins made with Tempranillo grapes; Bodegas Protos Reserva, bold with flavors of black fruits and spice with toasty notes; and Bodegas Lan Culmen Reserva, a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano grapes, with notes of liquorised red fruit and hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. The founding winery of Spain’s Ribera del Duero DO appellation, Bodegas Protos is one of Spain’s largest wineries, producing 3.5 million bottles of wine per year. Wines are made with Spanish Verdejo grape varietal. Founded in 1972, Bodegas LAN uses sustainable farming techniques and an innovative approach to winemaking to produce its distinctive wines. The name Bodegas LAN is an acronym for the three provinces that make up the Rioja terroir: Lograno (now La Rioja), Alava and Navarra.
