Anchor & Hope Wines Shore Up Craft Connecticut Offerings

By January 31, 2021Connecticut, Top News

The Anchor & Hope team built its winery in an old wire mill building in Rumford, Rhode Island. Partnering with small family farms in California, Oregon and Germany, the wines ship to Rumford soon after harvest, where they are aged and packaged into five-gallon kegs, 250-ml cans, 375-ml bottles and 750-ml bottles.

Craft Beer Guild Distributing of Connecticut and Blueprint Brands marked its newest endeavor into the wine-selling business with the addition of Anchor & Hope, a modern négociant-style winery founded by California native and traveling winemaker James Davids and Massachusetts born-and-raised Marissa Stashenko. The duo, now based in Rumford, Rhode Island, sources wines from small family farms in California, Oregon and Germany, focusing on lesser-known wine regions that are up and coming and that produce quality fruit. New Anchor & Hope wines to the Connecticut market include its bottled and canned selections: 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, 2019 Dry Riesling, 2019 Riesling Feinherb, 2019 Chardonnay, 2018 Pinot Gris, 2019 Rosé, 2018 Pinot Noir – Oregon, 2018 Mendo Red and 2018 Pinot Noir – Rheinhessen, among them.
