Angelini Wines, Ltd., welcomed Simone Allario of Piazzo Wines to Connecticut in early March. Two nights of dinners showcased the Italian selections, each wine representative of the tradition of the Langhe and Roero areas. The wines are made from the more than 70 hectares of vineyards in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, creating the namesake Barbaresco, Barolo, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba, Roero Arneis, Piemonte Chardonnay and Moscato Asti. The family-run winery is now in its third generation, with Allario and his brother, Marco, at the helm. Allario presented the wines with a team from Angelini during pairing dinners at La Marea Ristorante in Old Saybrook on March 7 and Market Place Kitchen & Bar in Danbury on March 8. During the week, the Angelini team also hosted Allario at its Centerbrook headquarters for a sales education session.
