The management team from Centerbrook, Connecticut-based importer and distributor Angelini Wine, Ltd., spent time in July touring supplier vineyards, as well as its own operations, led by Julius Angelini. A first stop to Il Borro in the Valdarno Valley in Tuscany showcased a tour and tasting for its wines, Il Borro Toscana, Il Borro Rosé del Borro and Il Borro Pian di Nova. The Angelini estate, located in the farming village of San Lorenzo in Campo, within the Marche region of Italy, was its second stop. The family’s third-generation 200-acre farm features 8 specialized acres devoted to vineyards of Sangiovese, Vernaccia (Pergola Rosso) and Merlot. The visit to Le Marche also gave an opportunity to visit the Marotti Campi winery, along with a guided wine tasting by owner, Lorenzo Marotti Campi, whose vineyard is known for its production of Verdicchio and Lacrima, with its Marotti Campi Luzano Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore available in Connecticut. The team’s last vineyard stop was to Fattoria Colsanto, located in the region of Umbria. During the visit, Julius Angelini met Valneo Livon, Co-owner of the Livon family of wines of which regional brands include Livon, Colsanto, Villa Chiopris and Borgo Salcetino. In addition, the team met with the winemaker and manager of the vineyards and production facility, which included a wine tasting of Colsanto wines. Angelini Wine offers high-quality wines from around the world, including Italy, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand, Oregon and California; sake and plum wines from Japan; and handcrafted tequilas from Mexico, found across more than 14 states within the United States.
