Great North Aleworks and Northwoods Brewing joined the state craft beer portfolio of Atlantic Beverage Distributors as the new year turned. First, from Manchester, New Hampshire comes new brews from Great North Aleworks, a 20-barrel production brewery founded by Rob and Lisa North, who create flavorful and food-friendly beers, while maintaining a “fanatical devotion” to quality. Great North Moose Juice, a 6.2% ABV “East Coast meets West Coast style IPA;” RVP, a 6.6% ABV Robust Vanilla Porter brewed with a blend of roasted and toasted malts, with coffee, dark chocolate and Madagascar vanilla flavor and aroma; and the 8% ABV Double Orbit Hazy Double IPA, a new year-round offering, are among its three new Rhode Island offerings. Second, comes another New Hampshire lineup from Northwoods Brewing Company: Glass Double Dry Hopped 6% ABV; Coffee Porter, at 4.7% ABV; Landlocks and Brookies, a 5% ABV Pale Ale; and Evening Rise Unfiltered Lager, at 5% ABV. The family-owned-and-operated brewery opened in 2018, focusing on hoppy ales and farmhouse beers.
