Spirits Businesses Arrange Bahama Aid After Hurricane Dorian

Bacardi Limited and the Bacardí family donated $1 million in cash and other assistance to the disaster relief and recovery efforts following the impact of Hurricane Dorian. Bacardi is collaborating with nonprofit partners and the Bahamian government to ensure the cash donation provides “immediate and long-term assistance” to local relief agencies to support the islands and communities. Bacardi also organized an employee drive to collect much-needed items, as well as communicated a website where cash donations can be provided. Also arranging aid are Firefly Distillery Co-founders Scott Newitt and Jim Irvin. Home to the Firefly Sunset Resort, owned by Irvin and his wife Ann, Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco Islands, was one of the hardest-hit islands. The Firefly Distillery is donating $1 per case of Firefly Spirits purchased between now and January 31, 2020. Proceeds will go to several organizations providing relief. Firefly is also donating additional goods and services to support local relief efforts.
