The Baró New World Cantina Block Party and Cinco de Mayo in Fairfield celebration started on May 4, 2014 and featured a cocktail competition featuring Don Julio Tequila, music, games, outdoor seating, food, drinks and more. Cocktail competitors submitted a recipe a week before the competition. Judges were Paul Mazurek, Treasurer, United States Bartenders Guild (USBG) CT, Peter Clayton, Owner/Operator, Bartenders Academy and Kristian Snook, Accounts Manager, New England Wine & Spirits. The winner was Jonathan Rodriguez of Baró.

Second place Matthew Pierce of Nolita Ristorante in East Hartford; First place Jonathan Rodriguez of Baró New World Cantina; Third place Adam Patrick of Match, South Norwalk.
