Wine Wizards welcomed Winemaker Stefano Marconi of Cantina Fermento to Rhode Island for a market visit on March 22. Cantina Fermento, based in Orvieto, Umbria, Italy, was founded in 2019 by husband-and-wife duo Evita Eboli and Stefano Marconi. The couple left their marketing jobs in Milan with a young family in tow to tackle viticulture and winemaking on the steep slopes of Orvieto, an ancient winemaking region dating back to the Etruscans in the ninth century BCE. Marconi poured Santa Madonna Aurantiaco Bianco and Rosso del Pozzo, along with Rustico from Conestabile della Staffa, another Umbrian producer in the SelectioNaturel import portfolio, for guests at ENO Fine Wines in Providence. An event at Oberlin that evening saw Marconi joined by Conestabile della Staffa’s Danilo Marcucci and SelectioNaturel’s Matt Mollo for a bar takeover.
