A group of Connecticut bar professionals traveled to the Tres Agaves Distillery in the town of Tequila located in Jalisco, Mexico, in mid-May. All events were led by Master Distiller Iliana Partida, who is the first woman to lead the production of Tres Agaves Tequila. Partida, a fourth-generation distiller and resident of the region, led the efforts with the visiting Connecticut group comprised of Justin Morales of Marlborough Tavern, Samantha Dziecol of Marlborough Tavern, Don Henderson of J. Gilbert’s and Tyler DeVecchis of Rooftop 120. The group learned about agave production and distilling methods, participated in tastings and field tours, and planted their own namesake Blue Weber Agave plants, which they will revisit in the future. Tres Agaves Tequilas are made from 100% Blue Agave by a family-owned distillery in three varieties, Blanco, Reposado and Añejo, and are distributed in the state by Connecticut Distributors, Inc. (CDI).
