Groton’s Grand Wine & Spirits presented its annual Pink Ribbon Campaign check to the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF), a New London-based charitable organization that uses 100% of gross fundraising dollars for breast cancer research. Owner Chuck Bowe presented a check of more than $10,000 to TBBCF on Dec. 22 in the Main Street store. Established in 2006 by two friends, the late Norma Logan and Sandy Maniscalco, TBBCF was established to honor Terri Brodeur, a young mother of three who succumbed to the disease in 2005 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Funds were raised as part of the efforts that Bowe holds every October in his five liquor stores in Groton, Mystic and Old Lyme during breast cancer awareness month. Employees also raise money and donate each year. The team also funds free mammograms for those who can’t afford it during the year. Bowe, the store team and corporate sponsors marked the 11th year of supporting the New London-based foundation, which culminates in the formal check presentation.
