Herbal Flavors A Focus for August USBG RI Session

The United States Bartenders Guild Rhode Island chapter, Parcel Apothecary and Vermont distiller, Caledonia Spirits, spent the afternoon of August 13, 2014 unleashing the flavors from herbs grown on the south side of Providence. The class focused on extractions and the many ways to infuse herbs in various solvents. Jessyloo Rodrigues, a local farming herbalist, led the session and shared the methods of extraction used in herbal medicine, which have also found their way into the cocktail realm.

Edison Colon Torres, sous chef, Cook & Brown; Michelle Janine, bartender and manager, Hank’s Down South Bar & BBQ; and Jessyloo Rodrigues from Small Estates Gardens representing Caledonia Spirits.
