Channel 3 Kids Camp themed its annual fundraising gala with inspiration from sponsor spirit Highclere Castle Gin. The “Downton Abbey”-inspired event featured dishes from around the world, a high-end specialty cocktail bar featuring award-winning Connecticut-based Highclere Castle Gin, as well as live music provided by the Cartells. The party, hosted on Nov. 13 at Fox Hopyard Golf Club in East Haddam, honored retired Channel 3 Kids Camp CEO Denise Hornbecker and WFSB-TV 13 Meteorologist Scot Haney for their support of Channel 3 Kids Camp and the hundreds of children served each year. Guests were entered to win a one-night stay at Foxwoods Resort Casino or the Saybrook Point Resort & Marina, as well as the opportunity to bid on an exclusive tour of Highclere Castle, located in Newbury, England. The evening began with a special video message from Lady Carnarvon, Co-founder of Highclere Castle Gin along with Adam von Gootkin, Co-founder & CEO, each with a custom cocktail, a British 75. Additional created cocktails to honor Hornbecker and Haney: The Great Scot Negroni made with Highclere Castle Gin, Fruitful Mixology Clementine Liqueur, Lillet Apéritif and Campari; Denise’s Pink Lady made with Highclere Castle Gin, pineapple juice, lemon and pomegranate and Autumn Bees Knees with Highclere Castle Gin, Fruitful Mixology Liqueur, lemon juice and honey syrup. Channel 3 Kids Camp provides fun year-round opportunities to children of all abilities, families and communities through educational and recreational programs that promote diversity.
