HOPKINS VINEYARD’S ICE WINE WINS CONNECTICUT ACCOLADES

New Preston’s Hopkins Vineyard took “2014 Wine Product of the Year” for its Ice Wine 2011 Estate Bottled at the annual Connecticut Specialty Food Association (CSFA) competition. Hopkins Westwind, Vineyard Reserve and Cabernet Franc won first place in their categories, and its Lady Rose took a second place award. The thirteenth annual CFSA Product Awards Competition was held on March 11, 2014, at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville. One hundred ninety-nine specialty food items from Connecticut-based manufacturers were entered into 36 categories. A panel of 25 judges consisting of local media personalities, food writers, Connecticut chefs and wine specialists scored products on overall taste/flavor, texture, aroma and appearance.
