Augusto Reina, Chief Executive Officer of Illva Saronno Holding Spa, passed away at age 80 on February 18. “We are proud of our past yet we are equally aware we must look ahead, for our tomorrow entails both great opportunities and great responsibilities,” said the liquor company in a statement, describing Reina as “an outstanding industrialist” and “a man in love with his work.” Born in Saronno on June 11, 1940, Augusto Reina turned a family-run Italian company into an international business, best known as the producer of Disaronno, Tia Maria and Rabarbaro Zucca fine Italian liqueurs. The company’s website stated, “The Reina family and the management team will carry forward the passion for this work, the innovative spirit, the sense of courage and optimism in the face of the future which set Augusto Reina in a class all of his own.”
