Industry Associations Laud New Tax Plan

By January 18, 2018Top News

Suppliers, brewers, spirits distillers and winemakers’ trade associations all issued statements applauding changes in the new tax law that reduces their tax contributions. The Distilled Spirits Council, Brewers Association, the American Craft Spirits Association, National Restaurant Association and WineAmerica, the National Association of American Wineries, all issued December 2017 statements commending congressional passage of a two-year version of the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act as included in the comprehensive tax reform package, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Among other features, the passage offers lower excise tax per barrel and lower taxes on sparkling wines, increased alcohol content, and more carbonated wines and “was designed” to boost production at craft breweries, vineyards and spirit distilleries.
