Irish Whiskey Sales Soar in the United States

By March 9, 2017Top News

This year, many Americans will toast St. Patrick’s Day with high-end Irish whiskey, more than previous years, according to the Distilled Spirits Council. Irish Whiskey volumes were up 18.7 percent to 3.8 million cases and revenues were up 19.8-percent to $795 million. The Council reports this growth is attributed to the rise of high-end and super-premium Irish Whiskeys, which grow from 736-percent to 3456-percent, since 2002. Irish Whiskey is also part of a “thriving cocktail culture” due to its “unique and versatile flavor,” according to the Distilled Spirits Council. “Irish Whiskey’s smooth flavor profile makes it particularly appealing to adult consumers who are new to the whiskey category,” said Frank Coleman, Vice President, Distilled Spirits Council.
