Italian White Wine Awarded 100 Points in an Industry First

By September 22, 2018Top News

Gewürztraminer Epokale by Cantina Tramin was awarded a 100-point score by Wine Advocate in September 2018. Calling it “a historic touchdown,” Wolfgang Klotz, Marketing and Sales Director, Cantina Tramin, said, “It is the first time Robert Parker grants this recognition to a white wine in Italy and the first time the award goes to a wine not produced in Tuscany or Piedmont. We are very proud to have brought this recognition to the Alto Adige region.” Epokale is the result of a long-term project by the winery aimed at “exploring Gewürztraminer aging potential.” Winemaker Willi Sturz chose two of the oldest vineyards, located near Nussbaumer mountain barn on the southeast slope of Mendola mountain. The 2009 is Epokale’s first vintage.
