By December 26, 2022Top News, VIPs

Kendall-Jackson Head Winemaker Randy Ullom was honored as the 2022 American Wine Legend for Wine Enthusiast’s Wine Star Awards. Ullom’s distinction coincides with his 30th year at Kendall-Jackson and the winery’s 40th anniversary. Founded by Jess Jackson in 1982, Kendall-Jackson grew from a single-varietal winery to producing iconic wines from across California’s prized growing regions and championing industry sustainability standards. Ullom joined Kendall-Jackson in 1993 after having served as Winemaker at DeLoach Vineyards for more than 10 years. In his first few years, he led efforts to open wineries in Mendocino, Monterey and Santa Barbara, helping establish Kendall-Jackson’s single-vineyard programs and resulting in its award-winning labels. He spearheaded winemaking operations in Chile and Australia, with the opening of Yangarra Estate Vineyard. In 1997, Ullom was promoted to Head Winemaker, innovating across the company’s offerings, environmental stewardship and vineyard practices, among efforts.
