Mancini Beverage – Rhode Island Distributing division welcomed Mezcal Campante to its agave-based spirits offerings. A small-batch premium mezcal made from a blend of Espadín and Barril agave grown in the nutrient-dense valleys and mountainsides of Oaxaca, México, a Denomination of Origin Protected, the brand was founded by Shirley Leigh-Wood Oakes, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, Sociedad Mezcalero and partners Luca Longobardi and hotelier José Luis Bustamante, Hotel Azul de Oaxaca. The cooked Espadín and Barril agave piñas are ground by a tahona pulled by oxen, with the mash then transferred to large wooden vats and left to ferment until Master Mezcalera Raúl Rodríguez Reyes determines its readiness. The mezcal is twice distilled in copper pot stills then bottled at 40% ABV. Tasting notes include aromas of vanilla, chocolate and caramel, with orange blossom, butter, smoky tones and hints of citrus on the palate.
