Mezcal Siete Misterios Doba-Yej, new to Rhode Island via MS Walker.
MS Walker of Rhode Island launched a new expression from Mezcal Siete Misterios: a copper-distilled mezcal. Doba-Yej, which means Espadin in ancient Zapotec, is made in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, a first from outside its namesake region. On the nose, lime and orange with hints of baked apple and pear and a subtle smokiness, and on the palate, Doba-Yej is smooth and subtle with a long citrus finish. At 44% ABV, the mezcal offers balance on its own or mixed in a cocktail. Founded by brothers Eduardo and Julio Mestres, the traditional mezcal brands are produced within the Oaxacan communities and made with 100% natural agave sugars that come from ripe plants. Mezcal Siete Misterios is produced using traditional techniques which include cooking in underground ovens, milling manually with wooden mallets or by Chilean Tahona horses, fermenting naturally with no added chemical agents and distilling twice in locally handmade clay pots.
