Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival Offers 14th Annual Showcase

The 14th annual Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival returned on September 20-23. Regional, national and international wine brands were showcased by suppliers and wholesalers. The first day started with a Burgundy Grand Cru Dinner at The Elms, followed by the main event, a weekend of Grand Tasting sessions on the lawn of the Marble House, where wines from around the world were paired with cuisine from nearly two dozen regional restaurants and caterers. Food & Wine magazine Senior Editor and “Mad Genius Tips” host Justin Chapple headlined the day’s events, cooking on the MONOGRAM Culinary Stage along with guest Chef Kevin Des Chenes, author of “Beyond My Chef Coat.” Local chefs Terence Feury of Forty 1˚ North in Newport and Jacob Jasinski of Cara Restaurant at The Chanler at Cliff Walk in Newport also made appearances. Beverage sponsors included Santa Margherita, Wines of Israel, Château d’Esclans, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Knob Creek, Brockmans Premium Gin, Don Julio, Filippo Berio, Kobrand and Newport Craft Truly Hard Seltzer. The event benefited The Preservation Society of Newport County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of historic sites in Newport.
