Porter’s Gin Joins Craft Beer Guild Distributing

By March 29, 2022Connecticut, Top News

Porter’s Gin Classic, 41.5% ABV, is a classic gin featuring cold-distilled Buddha’s Hand citron among botanicals. Porter’s Gin Old Tom, 40% ABV, offers a tropical profile and pronounced fruitiness from cold-distilled passion fruit, guava and white tea.

U.K. import, Porter’s Modern Classic Gin, joins the Craft Beer Guild Distributing of Connecticut’s Blueprint Spirits division portfolio. Founded by three bar professionals and friends in Aberdeen, Scotland, Ben Iravani, Alex Lawrence and Josh Rennie, the team created their ideal recipe of botanical infusions and a unique method of extraction — cold vacuum distillation. The vacuum still was designed by the team and professor Andrew Porter of the University of Aberdeen, and the gin takes its name after him. The base, made from 100% British wheat, comes from G&L Distillers near Manchester and arrives at the “lab” in Aberdeen with the fundamental gin infusions in place, including juniper, coriander seed, angelica, licorice, citrus zest, almond and cinnamon. The team then uses the custom vacuum still to prevent “cooking” additional botanicals during infusion, which include pink peppercorn, cassia and Buddha’s hand, a rare Asian citrus fruit with spindly finger-like lobes.
