SIA Scotch Whisky Launches in Connecticut

By March 29, 2022Connecticut, Top News

SIA Scotch Whisky, a blend of selected whiskies from the Speyside, Highland, Lowlands and Islay regions of Scotland, is a new import to Connecticut available via Allan S. Goodman and Eder Bros, Inc. The multi-award-winning blend is a smooth, balanced and complex flavor profile that is approachable and affordable yet ultra-premium, created by its founder, Carin Luna-Ostaseski, with help from a Kickstarter funding campaign. One of the lead malts used in the blend is Teaninich, which comes from a historic distillery in the Highland region dating back over 200 years. For maturing the whisky, SIA is aged in a combination of refill American oak (bourbon) and first-fill American oak (bourbon). The first-fill casks add the vanilla sweetness to the blend and caramel notes. The refill casks gently mature the whisky, allowing flavors to shine through. SIA offers citrus and spice on the nose and opens the palate with a hint of smoky vanilla, followed by a long, smooth and refreshing finish with hints of hazelnut and toffee. As a new entry to the Nutmeg State, the brand created a cocktail called Connecticut Nutmegger to bring the flavors of the state to the forefront, found at Carmines di Vega in New Haven.
