Johnson Brothers of Rhode Island and LUX Wines invited guests to join an April 30 virtual wine tasting session. The wines of Argiano in Montalcino, one of the most historic estates in the renowned Italian region, were showcased. While the estate dates back to the 1580s, the wines Argiano is making today offer classic tastes from the past blended with innovative winemaking. Argiano Rosso di Montalcino, Argiano Brunello di Montalcino, Argiano NC Super Tuscan and Argiano Solengo, also a Super Tuscan, were featured selections. The class included the history of Montalcino, its place in the larger picture of Italian wine and what makes Argiano’s wines unique. Participants were encouraged to pair their prepurchased wines with a homemade pasta Bolognese to enjoy during the live event with special guest speaker John Irwin from LUX Wines.
