Indiana’s oldest distillery Ross & Squibb, makers of Remus Bourbon and Rossville Union Rye Whiskey, partnered with NFL legend Chris Long and his nonprofit foundation, Waterboys Initiative, to bring clean, safe water to a community of 1,600 in Oloile, an arid location in southern Kenya. The distillery was inspired to help the nonprofit, as it has benefited from the abundant clean water from where it is located, above the Great Miami Buried Valley Aquifer. The community of Oloile in Kenya, which receives less than 3.5 inches per year of rainfall, is the beneficiary. The new water system will give residents access to clean water, alleviate cases of waterborne disease, enable growth of small gardens and give time for income-generating activities rather than searching for drinking water. To date, the Waterboys Initiative has provided clean water to more than 550,000 people in need in the U.S. and abroad.
