Slocum & Sons hosted a series of trade and consumer events to mark a “Celebratory Day of Veuve Clicquot” with Winemaker Pierre Casenave on May 4. The day began with a trade luncheon at Bernard’s in Ridgefield for Slocum & Sons representatives and accounts. The event was hosted by Casenave, who presented the history of Veuve Clicquot and its production process alongside the guided tasting. Veuve Clicquot selections included NV Veuve Clicquot, 2008 Veuve Clicquot, 2006 Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame, 2006 Veuve Clicquot Grande Dame Rosé and Veuve Clicquot Demi Sec. Later that same day, a consumer Veuve Clicquot “La Grande Dame” dinner was held at Arethusa al tavolo in Bantam in conjunction with Litchfield Hills Wine Market in Litchfield. Casenave educated guests about the French champagne house. Featured selections included Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut 2008, La Grande Dame Blanc 2006; La Grande Dame Rosé 2006; and Demi Sec.
