Cocktail Wars Newport hosted a Bloody Mary Challenge at Newport’s At the Deck on Oct. 27. Led by Bartender and Cocktail Wars Newport Founder John Begin, the Bloody Mary Challenge showcased South Kingstown’s Sons of Liberty Beer & Spirits Co. Vodka. Bartenders and guests gathered under a tent with scenic shore views of the venue to cheer on the cocktail-making while sampling each variation of the Sunday brunch favorite. Each bartender crafted accompanied garnishes in the form of small bites. Mike Johnson of Dev’s Tavern in Harrisville took the win with his cocktail, The Governess (“because she’ll take care of you”). Competition runner-up was Ed Richardson, Owner, Le Rev Brands, making his own Ed’s Le Rev Bloody Mary.
