Stew Leonard’s Wine & Spirits was named a 2017 Market Watch Leaders “Retailer of the Year” by Market Watch magazine. The business, owned by Stew Leonard, Jr. and his family, is an offshoot of Stew Leonard’s well-known grocery stores. Stew Leonard’s Wine & Spirits, founded in 1999, has nine locations across Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Leonard was awarded this honor for his “commitment to the business and his ability to integrate new technology.” Leonard was among 10 new Market Watch leaders to be recognized during the magazine’s annual awards dinner held at the St. Regis Roof in New York City. Stew Leonard’s nine beverage outlet locations gross more than $100 million in revenue annually, with wine making up 60 percent of sales, spirits 30 percent and beer 10 percent.
